Burmese Cookbook
A Burmese home-cooking title in lacquer and gold — one of the web's most complete English references for a cuisine that barely has one.

The challenge
Burmese food is one of the great under-documented cuisines in English — mohinga and lahpet and a whole pantry of ingredients that most sites either skip or mistranslate. Building a real reference means solving the knowledge problem, not just the recipe problem: readers need to know what the ingredients are before a recipe means anything.
The approach
The design system is lacquer and gold — Burmese lacquerware reds and gilt, kanote scrollwork, arched frames, with framer-motion and Lenis carrying the motion. On top of the shared chassis we built a 32-entry pantry encyclopedia that auto-links from any ingredient the moment it appears in a recipe, plus a Command-K search, a cook mode, and seasonal guides for the table and for Thingyan. A weekly drip queue keeps it publishing without anyone touching a server.
The result
One of the most complete English-language Burmese references online — 144 recipes across eight chapters and eleven eras of food history, every unfamiliar ingredient a click from an explanation. Live on burmesecookbook.com, designed, built, and operated by us.
